Institute for Cyber Social Work

Effecting positive change through technology.

Cyber Social Work (CSW), also called electronic social work is quickly growing in popularity and has become a specialty area of practice. The body of CSW research is emerging and the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) in late summer 2017 revised the Code of Ethics to include content related to the use of technology and social media in direct practice and service delivery. The Internet and social media have reduced communication barriers, enhanced work and personal productivity, and ushered in new advances in pain management and mental health support services. For many Social Workers, technology is changing the way we engage and serve at risk populations. As our society rapidly evolves in part due to technology, so too has the Social Work profession.

The Institute for Cyber Social Work began fall 2011 to address the need for quality continuing education training and educational programs specifically related to technology and the impact on the social work profession. Today, the Institute for Cyber Social Work offers uniquely designed digital literacy training programs for human service organizations/agencies, colleges/universities, K-12 educational institutions, parent/community groups, as well social workers in private practice.  To learn more about our services, please contact us at (248) 291-7975 (SWRK) or click the Contact Us link below and request specific information.
